 Weave a Food Web


1. Form groups of six.
2. Make six name cards as shown.
3. Discuss and construct a food web using the set of name cards.
4. Hang a name card around your neck.
5. Hold one end of four pieces of string in your hand. Give the other end of your strings to the other "animals" who "eat" you.
6. Ask the "rabbit" to leave the web. Everyone who is connected to the "rabbit" should leave the web as well/
7. Reform the food web and ask the "tree" to leave the web. Everyone who is connected to the "tree" should leave the web as well.
8. Draw the food web in your Science Journal.
(a) How many "animals" are affected when "rabbit" or "tree" are removed from the web?
(b) What does the activity show about the importance of plant and each animals in a food web?
